Ancient Greece
Ancient Greece has been called the "birthplace of Western Civilization". European culture was greatly influenced by the Greeks. The areas of art, literature, history, philosophy, politics, and science all had their roots in ancient Greece. This was an interdisciplinary unit that afforded our students the opportunity to examine a civilization upon which much of our western civilization is built. How has ancient Greece influenced our western culture? What aspects of Greek culture continue to influence our lives today?

I believe our selection of heroes indicates what we as a person value the most in ourselves and others. The dominant traits in these heroes is what we aspire to be in our everyday lives.

ReplyDeleteI also believe that our selction of heroes defines who we are and what we value. For example, there are several people I would consider my hero, but if I had to choose it would definately be my mother. In my opinion, a hero is someone I admire and look up to. A hero is someone who I would want to be just like them when I grow up. Thus, my mom is a survivor who has struggled to keep my family going. She has been through ups and down and always carries a smile on her face. So, as I have mentioned, my selection of heroes determines what I value, which is my family. One day I hope to be just like my mom.
